Apple’s WWDC 2023 keynote filed with updates to watchOS. The latest release, watchOS 10, is packed with redesigned apps, stackable widgets, and more. But the cutest part was the addition of the cute Snoopy watch face.
It brings my old Apple Watch SE to life with cool animations and motion. Snoopy and Woodstock react every time I raise my wrists. It’s one of the most intuitive watch faces on an Apple Watch, and legitimately one of the best additions to the entire watchOS 10 update.
The Snoopy Apple Watch face is vibrant, interactive, and fun
Snoopy is the famous beagle from the Peanuts cartoon. The watch face also features Snoopy’s beloved friend, Woodstock, and together they make your boring watch face fun. The duo is meant to interact and play with the clock hands. They also react to weather conditions and are activated when you exercise. You will get different Snoopy moods even when you don’t move. In the first edition of the comics, Snoopy walked on four legs, but this doesn’t happen on the Apple Watch. Here the beagle lives its best life on two legs.
The Snoopy Apple Watch face has a huge array of animations, so every time you raise your wrist, you’re greeted with a different one. Snoopy can go surfing, play basketball or give you a sideways look to bring the clock face to life. While my Apple Watch SE does not support the always-on display feature, Snoopy and Woodstock can be seen sleeping on the always-on display for Apple Watches that support it.
The best part is that it’s not stiff. You can customize the background color and the hour numbers. This helps me customize it to match the Apple Watch band I’m wearing. For example, I choose the silver background when wearing my stylish Nomad Aluminum Band and the pumpkin background when wearing the new Nomad Blaze Limited Edition Sport Band. It goes better with sport bands, though.
According to Michael Kent, Apple’s Software Engineering Manager, when Snoopy’s watch face is against a black and white background, he shows a colored background with every wrist lift on Sunday. It is said to have been inspired by comic strips in newspapers.
How to get Snoopy’s face on your Apple Watch
To use the Snoopy Watch face, it is required update your Apple Watch to watchOS 10. Once you’re done, follow these steps to get Snoopy on your Apple Watch:
- On your iPhone, launch the file Clock app.
- Tap the Face gallery tab at the bottom center of the app.
- You’ll see the Palette and Snoopy watch faces under New watch faces.
- Touch Snoopy.
- You can customize the color and style of the watch face on this page.
- Once you’re happy with the customization, tap on Add under the title Snoopy.
How to customize Snoopy’s face on your Apple Watch
You can further customize your Snoopy Watch face after adding it to your watch. That’s how:
- Press and hold the clock face to go to the edit menu.
- Touch Modify.
- Here you can customize the file Style.
- Swipe left to bring color customizations.
- Rotate the digital crown to get the desired color.
- Press the crown to save changes.
While I generally use complicated dials, I like the Snoopy dial to have characters from my childhood on my wrist. The different interactions of Snoopy and Woodstock on every turn of the wrist is what I look forward to, as well as checking the time. Sure, I wake up my watch only to see Snoopy doing random things on the face. It’s fun, charming, and a truly wonderful addition to watchOS 10.
